  Clocks For Sale:

This section of sold clocks is simply to indicate some of the types and styles of clocks we usually carry.

Clock #7004

Eli and Samuel Terry Pillar and Scroll Clock

A good, honest, original clock in untouched condition needing a little case work. Both scroll tips are missing. There is some veneer loss around the escutcheon area on the left side of the door and some veneer which was glued back down poorly. The base and feet are complete and correct with just a bit of chipping.

The painted wood dial is in excellent condition with gilt spandrels, crisp numerals and no paint loss at all. The label is in superior condition - one of the best. As a bonus, it has the original painted tablet which does have some flaking.

It has an original set of brass finials plus the original hands, pulley covers, pendulum, weights and key. With some restoration to the case and tablet the value of this clock would increase dramatically. 30 hour wood works movement 31" tall.

Clock #7005

E. Terry and Sons Pillar and Scroll Clock

This clock has had a considerable amount of restoration and is priced accordingly. The mahogany case is clean and refinished but has some veneer loss on the left side of the door and some veneer pieces have not been glued down properly.

Both glasses have been replaced and the reverse painting is of average quality. The scroll portion of the top looks good but it has been replaced. The base is original but the left two feet have been replaced.

The painted wood dial has gilt spandrels and there is a bit of paint loss in the center. The label is fly specked but complete and legible. The hands and finials have been replaced. The pendulum and weights are original. 30" tall. Running.

Clock #7006

Seth Thomas Pillar and Scroll Clock

What makes this clock better than average is the original reverse painted tablet which is a rare find today. It is in quite good condition with no flaking or lifting. It has had any loose spots touched up and it has a good colorful look.

The mahogany case has been nicely refinished and there are no veneer chips or problems. The right scroll tip has been replaced and that portion was re-veneered to match. The base and feet are original. It has an excellent label in much better than average condition. The painted wood dial is colorful with crisp numerals.

There is one touchup to a scratch at the left winding arbor. The hands, pendulum key and door key are the originals. The finials are Terry type replacements but I can supply a correct set of Seth Thomas replacement finials if you wish.

This is a 30 hour wood works movement which has old cords and has not been serviced for many years. 30" tall.

Seth Thomas carved transition clock.

Great looking, well refinished mahogany case with only one tiny veneer chip on a back corner. Superior carvings with great detail and not one chip. Excellent dial and label. Moberg gold leaf reverse painting done on the original glass which does have a crack. Original hands, pendulum, weights and key. A fine example of a carved transition clock. 30 hour wood works with bell strike. 29 ½" tall.

Clock #8006

E. Terry & Sons carved transition.

The detail of the carvings is exceptional, much better than average and without one chip. There are a few small chips in the veneer and the ivory escutcheon is missing. The original finish is dark but would lighten up with some simple cleaning. Good dial and label. Excellent replacement gold leaf reverse painting done on the original glass. Original hands, pendulum, key and weights. 30 hour wood works with bell strike. 29" tall.

Clock #8008

Rare Silas Hoadley carved column clock
with upside down movement and alarm.

Usually found with stenciled columns and splat, it is rare to find with fully carved columns, splat, paw feet and pineapple finials, especially in this condition. Refinished mahogany case with perfect veneer and not one chip to any of the carvings. The eagle is very well done. Great dial and label. Original weights, pendulum and hands - the tip of the alarm hand and all 3 glasses have been changed. 30 hour wood movement. It has new cords and appears to be in running order. 38" tall.

Clock #8009

Rare Jerome and Darrow "Thin" movement clock.

It will be very hard to find a better example. The original stenciling is just superb with virtually no wear at all. The mahogany case has been nicely refinished with only minor veneer chips and a crack at the lower hinge.

Excellent dial and label plus original glass and mirror. Original hands, pendulum and weights. 30 hour wood works with internal bell strike. 35" tall.

Clock #7008

E. Terry and Sons Stenciled Transition Clock

This clock has a mahogany case which had the finish cleaned up years ago and would now benefit from a cleaning and polishing. There is some veneer loss at the bottom front and some old veneer repairs. The carved paw feet have one toe missing on the left and three on the right.

The splat stenciling is excellent while the column stenciling is worn. Note these are quarter columns. The dial and reverse painted tablet are great. This is the first dial I have ever seen which has a stenciled center and the condition is excellent.

The tablet is a scene of the "Villa Regents Park". Any loose spots have been touched up, stabilized and it looks very good. The label is much better than average and it retains the original moon hands, pulley covers, pendulum, key and weights. 30 hour wood works. 28 ½" tall.

Clock #7009

Hopkins & Alfred Harwinton, Conn. Stenciled Transitional Clock

Exceptional condition, far above average. Mahogany case with almost perfect veneer and a good original finish. Carved paw feet.

The stenciling on the splat is original. The column stenciling was very well redone and it is hard to tell from the original. Great original reverse painted tablet with a bit flaking.

Very colorful painted dial in fine shape and a label in superior condition. Original hands, pendulum, weights and key.
30 hour wood works movement in good running order. 30" tall.

Clock #7011

George Mitchell - Bristol CT, Stenciled Column Clock

This is the early style case with the bulbous columns on a full door and stenciled corner blocks. It is in excellent condition. Nicely refinished with almost perfect veneer. The stenciling is in quite good condition and is shows an eagle atop the globe with cannons, muskets etc.

The mirror is probably the original and the upper glass has been replaced. There are some torn pieces on the label but most of the pieces are still there and could be put back on.

Original hands, pendulum, key and weights. This is a 30 hour wood works groaner style movement with bell strike. 35" tall.

Marsh, Gilbert and Co., Farmington, Conn. 8 day wood works Clock.

This clock has an untouched original finish with almost perfect veneer. It is the double door style. One ivory escutcheon is missing but I can supply the ivory blank if you wish. Original mirror and glass which does have a crack.

The stenciling is in fine condition with hardly any wear. The painted wood dial is in superior condition with gold spandrels and decoration. The label is quite good and legible. It has the original hands, pendulum, key and large 8 day weights.

The movement is complete and any chipped teeth were restored by a good clockmaker. It sat in a collection for many years so it does need a thorough cleaning. 38" tall.

Clock #8012

Jared Arnold, Jr., Amber, New York triple decker in "as found" condition.

The gentleman who owned this clock took the columns, feet and chimney caps off and misplaced or lost them. If they are ever found I will give them to the buyer of this clock. The mahogany case is missing one section of veneer on the left base and the eagle has been repainted gold.

The reverse painting is a good replacement. The label and gold dial are quite good. Original hands and pendulum. There are no weights. 8 day strap brass movement with pewter winding drums. 37" tall.

Clock #9007

Sylvester Clark Salem Bridge shelf clock.

This is a good, early shelf clock in better than average condition. This is a case with mahogany veneer and the original finish. There are very few veneer chips. There are carved paw feet and center panels with no chips. The grain painted columns are in superior condition. The crest has the original mirror and two brass rosettes.

The upper glass and central mirror below are original. The lower glass has been replaced. The painted wooden dial has a seconds bit and is without any flaking or damages. The label is an over paste with bits of the under label showing but it is all quite legible. The hands, weights, pendulum, ivory door escutcheon and key are the originals.

This is an eight day weight driven clock with hourly strike on a coiled gong. At 32 inches tall this is a fine and impressive clock.
