Clocks For Sale:

This section of sold clocks is simply to indicate some of the types and styles of clocks we usually carry.
Birge & Fuller 8 day wagonspring double candlestick steeple clock

Clock #7001

Birge and Fuller 8 day wagonspring double candlestick steeple clock.
It has a clean, refinished mahogany case with perfect veneer and no chips to the candlesticks. Both reverse painted glasses have been redone. It was a very good job and both glasses are perfect.

Original painted zinc dial with minor touchups. The label has darkened in spots but it is all legible and none of the printed area is missing. It retains the original hands, key and pendulum.

This is an 8 day clock with hourly strike. Both chains are o and appear to be in good shape. The clock is presently running but it is due for a cleaning.
25 ½" tall.

John Polsey Regulator No. 4 banjo clock.

Clock #8062

Rare J. C. Brown ripple beehive marketed by Daniel Pratt, Boston.

It will be hard to find a more honest, original example. The rosewood case is in the dark untouched original finish. I do not see one case nick, blemish, chip or scratch. The cut glass tablet is excellent. The painted dial has a small whitish area under the 12, possibly from someone who started to clean it and wisely went no further. Original pendulum and barbed steel hands. The label is quite good. Signed 8 day movement with strike and alarm. It has not been cleaned in many years. 18 ½" tall.

Clock #7024

Brewster & Ingrahams 8 day Steeple Clock.

This mahogany case has a very dark old finish. Under that there are a few veneer chips but it is nothing serious. The left finial tip has a tiny nick.

Both glasses are original and the lower is cut, not just frosted and it is perfect. The dial is in very good condition and retains a faint signature. The label is a bit stained but it is all legible.

This model has the brass covered gong base, an extra fancy pendulum, an early brass key and the original hands. The ribbed movement is signed and it still has the original large brass mainsprings. 20" tall.

Clock #1018

Chauncey Boardman fusee steeple clock

Chauncey Boardman fusee steeple clock. The finish needs to be cleaned on this mahogany case. The finials tips are near perfect and the veneer is largely in good condition but for some chipping near the door latch area. The original painted tablet of Melrose Abbey has a bit of flaking and the dial is a replacement. The label has a torn spot but it is all legible. The hands are original and the pendulum is a replacement. The movement is signed and patent dated 1847. This 30 hour clock has a gong strike and it is running. 20" tall.

Clock #7025

J.J. Beals & Co., Boston 8 day Steeple Clock.

Very clean, nicely refinished mahogany case. There are several spots where the veneer needs repair and one finial tip has a tiny chip.

The painted zinc dial is very good but for a repainted area at the very peak. The label is excellent. Both glasses are original and the lower is deeply cut, not just frosted. The fancy pressed brass gong cover, pendulum, hands and key are the originals.

The 8 day movement is signed Brewster and Ingrahams and it retains both original brass mainsprings. The strike ratchet click needs to be repaired. 20" tall.

Clock #8029

Rare J. C. Brown, Forrestville, Conn. mother of pearl picture frame clock.

This model is not easily found and usually they are in pretty rough shape but this one is quite good. The stencil and paint decoration shows very little wear and the colors are bright. All the mother of pearl pieces are there and it still has the ivory knob.

The blue and gold upper glass is fine with just a bit of background touch up. The lower glass appears to be correct and has a portrait of J. C. Brown. The dial is in great shape with a crisp signature. The label does have some torn spots.

Original hands, pendulum and key. Signed 8 day ribbed movement with gong strike. Running. 17" tall.

Clock #9106

Jerome miniature iron case clock

Wonderful Jerome miniature iron case clock. Virtually perfect paint, mother-of-pearl and gilt decoration. The case is all iron including the rear plate.

It has the original hands and a good dial paper. The 30 hour balance movement is signed. It has an unusual fast -- slow adjustment by a wire through the bottom of the case. Running. 11 inches tall.

Clock #8064 Miniature

Ansonia Brass Co., Bristol, Conn. miniature steeple clock.

This is a wonderful little miniature steeple clock. The refinished rosewood and mahogany case is nearly perfect with one chipped finial tip being the only noticeable flaw.

The painted dial has some shrinkage lines but it does not matter because the reverse painted tablet makes up for it. Probably done by William Fenn, this tablet is one of the very best. The painted eagle is terrific and there is not one wear spot.

There is a good label plus the original hands and pendulum. This 30 hour timepiece movement is running well. You will not be disappointed with this cute little clock. 14" tall.

Clock #8061

Seth Thomas "Parlor Calendar No. 5".

This clock has a nicely refinished solid walnut case with just two small veneer chips on the back edge. Both painted dials are original. The upper has one flaked spot, the lower is fine and it is signed "Patented Feb. 15, 1876".

It has two good labels, original hands and good roller papers. This is an 8 day clock with hourly bell strike. It is running and the calendar trips properly. 20" tall.

Clock #8063

Boardman fusee steeple clock.

The label actually reads "C. Boardman, also by J. A. Wells, Bristol, Conn.". Clean, refinished mahogany case in near perfect condition. Even the two finial tips are perfect. It has a repainted dial and replacement hands and beehive tablet.

The label is very good. Original pendulum and key. The thirty hour movement is signed and patent dated 1847. It has new fusee cords and looks fine but runs only a few minutes. 20" tall..

Clock #8034

Ansonia "Huntress" swinging arm clock.

This clock is complete with no damages, missing pieces or repairs/replacement parts. The statue has her original aged bronze finish which is in good shape but for some wear on her arm.

The swing portion has the correct ribbon, hands, and other trim including the suspension spring blocks where the springs and all seem to be original and functioning well.

The two spheres have lost most of the original bluing which can be seen when the back cover is removed.

The movement is signed and has the Ansonia logo. The mainspring is either broken or off of the catch. With finger pressure on the train it ticks properly and the escapement looks fine. This is an 8 day timepiece. 24 ½" tall overall.

Clock #8058

Rare Forestville Hardware and Clock Company porcelain shelf clock.

This clock must have been dropped because there are numerous cracks that have been reglued. However, it is such a rare model that I simply had to have it. Actually, the cracks were so poorly glued that soaking them apart and then doing a proper job would improve the looks a great deal.

It has the original brass bezel. Obviously the painted dial is badly flaking but enough remains to have a correct pattern for the repaint. Note there is a seconds dial at the bottom. The hands are improper replacements.

There is a wood box behind the front and it has the original white paint. The label covers the entire back. It is worn at the bottom but enough is clear so the maker's name is quite visible. This is a 30 hour balance timepiece. It is ticking so the escapement is good but it does not stay running. 9 ½" tall.
